It's the age of Princesses

Having children is such a blessing. They are so innocent and care free. Lily is turning into such a big girl!

It's all happening much too fast. She would argue that statement. Some days she wants so badly to be "big." The other day she told me that she had wished upon a star to be big. Oh to be little and to believe in wishing upon stars again. .sigh.

She is living in a Princess world.  Everything is so magical, exciting and new.  All she wants to do is play barbies with daddy and have Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder get married over and over again.  It was so cute.  I heard them in her room and their conversation went something like this:

Rapunzel (played by Lily) "Okay, now let's get married."
Flynn Ryder (played by daddy) "Wait, we just met. I don't know much about you."
Rapunzel: "Okay, I like to go for walks, smell and pick flowers and play."

Jared came out and asked me if it was normal that she was always wanting to get married. I assured him it was completely normal and that girls dream of getting married, even at 4 years old. I thought it was too cute.

She also asked if she could be in charge of the FHE (Family Home Evening) lesson last week. She got some props (her piggy bank and a picture of Mary and Joseph) and started by telling us something about making money and her piggy bank. Then she said, "This is Mary. She is a princess. She is married to Jesus." We went on to talk about how Mary is indeed a princess, but Jesus' mother and the bride of Joseph. I thought it was so cute that in her little mind, one that can't fully comprehend the special role Mary has played, she still pictured Mary as a princess.

Taylor Swift has a few songs that never fail to make me cry. "Never grow up" and "The Best Day." They lyrics really tug at my heart.
The first part of "Never Grow Up" goes:
Your little hand's wrapped around my finger
And it's so quiet in the world tonight
Your little eyelids flutter cause you're dreaming
So I tuck you in, turn on your favorite night light
To you everything's funny, you got nothing to regret
I'd give all I have, honey
If you could stay like that
Oh darling, don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up, just stay this little
Oh darling, don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up, it could stay this simple

Oh Lily, thank you for the simplicity you bring in my life.  And please, just stay this little.
